ABOUT CAMP:
The Community Asset Mapping Program (CAMP) provides students with training in geographic
information system (GIS) technology applications. Students then work with local leaders to create digital maps of community infrastructure to improve coordination of local services. CAMP is available at the LSU AgCenter’s Delta Rural Development Center (DRDC) located in the Thomas Jason Lingo Community Center in Oak Grove, Louisiana. CAMP is an infrastructure committee signature project of the Louisiana Delta Initiative.
LSU AgCenter faculty Dr. James Barnes, R. L. Frazier, Dr. Keith Morris and Myrl Sistrunk led the development of this project. Forest High School students Seth Strong, Dustin Waits and Charles Dupree received training in GIS technology and created fire district maps of West Carroll Parish.
We thank Senators Thompson and Walsworth and Representatives Chaney and Little for funding this program. We also thank Dr. Paul Coreil, Director, and Dwight Landreneau, Associate Director, Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, Don Terry at Entergy Louisiana LLC and Drs.
